Video: After international acclaim, ‘Seeking Haven for Mr. Rambo’ to debut in Egypt

Following its successful screenings at the Venice Film Festival in Italy and the Cinemamed Mediterranean Film Festival in Belgium, “Seeking Haven for Mr. Rambo” will debut its theatrical release in Egyptian cinemas on January 1st, 2025, and in Arab countries on January 9th. The film was bestowed with both the Jury Award and the Grand Award.

Furthermore, it participated in the official competition at the fourth Red Sea Film Festival in Jeddah and was recognized with the Yusr Award by the International jury, chaired by the esteemed director, Spike Lee.

The film also competed internationally, participating in the Duhok International Film Festival in Iraq and the 35th Carthage Film Days, where it received a Special Mention from the International Jury.

Haunted by his past, Hassan, a young man in his thirties, finds his life thrown into chaos when he becomes entangled in a dangerous situation while trying to save his beloved dog, Rambo. Now, he and his canine companion must evade the relentless pursuit of his neighbors, who have turned against him.

This film marks director Khaled Mansour’s feature-length debut, following his success with several acclaimed short films screened at international and regional festivals.

The screenplay for the film was penned by Mohamed El-Hosseiny. The cast includes rising actor Essam Omar, Rakin Saad, Sama Ibrahim (co-founder of the musical group Sharmoofers), Ahmed Bahaa in his debut acting role, and a talented ensemble of young actors and guest stars.

Mohamed Hefzy from Film Clinic and debut producer Rasha Hosny produced the film.

Prior to her producing endeavors, Hosny established a distinguished career as a film critic and programmer at several prominent international film festivals. The film’s global distribution is handled by Film Clinic Indie Distribution, with Misr International Films distributing within Egypt and Front Row Filmed Entertainment overseeing distribution in the GCC region.
