Ain Shams University students to protest against Interior Ministry Sunday

Ain Shams University student union has announced staging rallies on Sunday against the military and Interior Ministry.

In a statement on Saturday, the students referred to violations that have been ongoing for five months in universities by authorities. It accused Interior Ministry of detaining and killing whoever it wants, the High Education Ministry of being reluctant and the university administration of not supporting students’ rights to a safe campus and free voice.

“Consecutive regimes do not understand the voice of reason, but only that of weapons. They don’t understand the meaning of freedom. They do not respect humanity of citizens, but work on suppressing and humiliating them only because of the difference in their opinions and demands for rights and justice,” the statement said.

The students also wondered about the university president’s stance saying, “How did he receive news of the murder of one of the students without giving any reaction or denouncing it? How did he accept that the university turns into a battlefield between students and police with the help of thugs until the latter topped roofs of faculties and attacked students?"

In related news, Muslim Brotherhood students said they will postpone their protests to Sunday due to the high security presence and take advantage of the student union rallies.
