The Al-Ahly club’s board of directors, headed by Mahmoud al-Khatib, plans to discuss, during its next meeting, a series of leaks concerning the punishment on Mahmoud Abdel Moneim Kahraba.
Al-Masry Al-Youm learned from its sources that the Egyptian Football Association had previously received the Disciplinary Committee’s decision to suspend Kahraba for 12 matches and fine him LE1 million which was to be paid within a month.
The legal department in Al-Ahly Club expressed reservations about the decision, saying that the Disciplinary Committee does not have the legitimacy to issue the penalty.
According to Al-Ahly, the Football Association regulations stipulate that there are four committees that must be formed through elections.
The committees are as follows: the Disciplinary Committee, the Appeal Committee, the Electoral Committee, and Compliance and Account Control Committee.
The regulations also prohibit combining the penalty of suspension and a fine in cases such as Kahraba’s.
Al-Ahly added that determining 12 matches as a time limit for suspension lacked legal basis.
According to the sources, Al-Ahly Board of Directors studies withdrawal from the Super Cup if the Football Association insists on the decision.
Al-Ahly-Zamalek match in the Egyptian Super Cup is scheduled to take place in the UAE on Friday, May 5.
