Al-Azhar fatwa center warns against ’Conquer’ game due to gambling

Al-Azhar International Center for e-Fatwa in Egypt warned against playing the “Conquer” due to it encouraging gambling.

“The Islamic Sharia does not stop for a moment to support every beneficial good, and to confront all harmful evil in various times and places. We should not lose sight of the guide that the honorable Sharia has set for playing games so that through them one preserves their religion, themselves, money, and time, their safety, and the safety of others,” the center said in a statement.

The center added that “Conquer” is a video game no proper supervision, and the biggest violation that it includes is gambling, as more than one person plays at the same time on an imaginary balance of money in the form of points.

Players gamble with these points, and win or lose, it continued, and stressed that gambling or betting is forbidden by Sharia law.
