The International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences has chosen Al-Masry Al-Youm’s writer and acting Editor-in-Chief Abdellatif al-Manawy as part of the Emmy Awards jury.
Manawy will select the winner of the Emmy award for TV news coverage, competed for by many international television channels and journalists around the world.
This marks the third time Manawy will participate as a judge for the Emmy Awards. The Academy previously selected him as a judge for the Documentary Films competition.
The results of the competition will be announced at the annual academy event, which will be held this year on November 18 at New York City.
The Emmy Award was launched in 1949 to celebrate the best achievements in TV, similar to the Oscar awards.
The award is organized by the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, an international media organization that comprises leading media outlets and personalities from 50 countries, as well as 500 television companies around the world.
The Academy presented the Emmy Award for the first time on January 25, 1949 to then famous American television and radio personality Shirley Dinsdale.
