Mohamed Zaki, founder of the Antiquities Tamarod movement, said the movement has resumed collecting signatures to withdraw confidence from Minister of Antiquities Mohamed Ibrahim and to call for his removal.
Zaki told Al-Masry Al-Youm that the signature-gathering had stopped in order not to burden police and military with more duties.
Zaki expected the campaign, which resumed its work three days ago, “to announce the results of gathering signatures from workers of several archaeological authorities in ten days.”
Zaki explained that the campaign insists on the dismissal of the minister due to his “refusal of the junior antiquities workers’ frequent requests to meet him in order to review their problems.”
“The minister failed in running the ministry, especially in providing jobs to the juniors. He hasn’t provided medical care yet [to the junior workers], despite deducting it from the ministry workers’ basic salaries,” he added.
The campaign was launched a few weeks ago to collect signatures to withdraw confidence from the minister.
