Uganda Vice President Edward Ssekandi awarded leading Egyptian construction company Arab Contractors the prize for best contracting company of 2018 last week during the 7th Visionaries of Uganda Awards ceremony held in Kampala.
The award is in recognition of the company’s role in implementing a number of developmental projects in the country, with the company having carried out excellent work in Uganda in accordance with international standards of quality and performance, according to a company statement released on Monday.
The award comes in the context of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi’s ongoing campaign to strengthen ties between Egypt and its neighbors across the African continent, according to Chairman and CEO of Arab Contractors Mohsen Salah, who added that the honor also reflects the distinguished reputation of the Arab Contractors Company in Africa.
The Arab Contractors Company has worked on a number of projects in Uganda, Salah said, including the establishment of the Mulago Specialized Hospital in Kampala for the Ugandan Ministry of Health, work involving mitigating flood hazards in Kasiisi, and construction of several educational and commercial buildings and roads.
