
Leaders of the Arab world met in Riyadh on Friday, days before an emergency Arab summit scheduled to be held in Cairo on March 4, to discuss developments in the Palestinian issue.
The Saudi Press Agency said that this meeting came within the context of “special friendly meetings that have been held periodically for many years between the leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Jordan and Egypt, within the framework of the close fraternal relations that bring the leaders together, and contribute to strengthening cooperation and coordination between the GCC countries, Jordan and Egypt.”
The meeting comes as part of joint Arab action, and any decisions issued regarding it will be on the agenda of the upcoming emergency Cairo summit..
The Director of the Private Office of the Saudi Crown Prince, Badr Al-Asaker, described the meeting as “friendly and brotherly.”
The meeting was attended by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, King Abdullah II of Jordan, UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Crown Prince of Bahrain Sheikh Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, Crown Prince of Jordan Prince Hussein bin Abdullah, and UAE National Security Advisor Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed.
Egypt will host the emergency Arab summit on the developments of the Palestinian issue on March 4 instead of its original date of February 27.
The new date set after coordination with the Kingdom of Bahrain, the current president of the Arab League Council, and consulting with other Arab nations.
