In an emergency meeting on Sunday, the Arab League condemned the recent Israeli attacks along the Egyptian border in Sinai, which resulted in the deaths of several Egyptian border security personnel.
The meeting, which was attended by permanent delegates of the Arab countries and Secretary General Nabil al-Araby, expressed solidarity with Egypt.
The Egyptian-Israeli border on Thursday witnessed violent incidents that claimed the lives of six Egyptian officers and soldiers. At the time, the Israeli army was combing the border to hunt down an armed group involved in the murder of Israeli civilians earlier in the day.
The league also condemned the current Israeli aggression in the Gaza Strip that left dozens of dead and wounded Palestinian civilians, including children and women, and destroyed homes and property. It called on the international community to pressure Israeli authorities to immediately stop the aggression, and hold them responsible for the war crimes and crimes against humanity.
It also urged the international community to compel Israel to lift the blockade imposed on the Gaza Strip since 2007, and open crossings to and from the coastal enclave.
