Army spokesperson Ahmed Mohamed Ali said the bang that was heard in Giza on Wednesday afternoon was of planes breaking the sound barrier in a military exercise.
“No reason to worry,” Ali posted on the army’s official Facebook page.
Also, Hisham Youssef of the Giza Security Directorate’s explosives department said he did not receive any reports about explosions on that day.
Social networks bloggers had said they heard a loud explosion in Giza, Maadi and 6 October City.
