The association of medicine distributors criticized the referral of four medicine distributing companies to public prosecution.
The reason behind the referral is not clear, especially given that the pricing of medicine is subject to the state and the margin of pharmacists' and distributors' profits is determined by the Health Ministry, an association member said. He added that the distributing companies cannot change the prices announced by the Health Ministry.
Four companies were referred to the prosecution Tuesday over agreeing on the unification of sales and marketing policies, including the reduction of credit periods and cash discount rates granted to small and medium-sized pharmacies which violated the law.
