AUC employees threaten protest over salary decreases

More than 500 American University in Cairo (AUC) employees have threatened to stage a protest next week against salary decreases and other alleged improprieties. In response, the university board of directors held an urgent meeting Thursday, presided over by AUC President David Arnold and Higher Education Ministry adviser for university affairs Amr Ezzat Salama.

The AUC administration in a press statement decided to investigate employee-filed complaints in an effort to develop effective solutions. The administration has found some complaints untrue, according to the statement.

AUC employees have called on a union committee to meet with the board of directors to investigate inaccurate information.
