Azhar Grand Sheikh extends Christmas well wishes to Christians

Azhar Grand Sheikh in Egypt, Ahmed al-Tayyeb, congratulated, on Sunday, the Christian brothers around the world on the occasion of Christmas, praying to God that safety and stability prevail everywhere in the world.

In a Facebook post, Tayyeb said: “I congratulate my dear brothers and friends, Pope Francis, Pope Tawadros II, Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby, Patriarch of Constantinople Bartholomew I, church leaders, and Christian brothers in the East and West on Christmas.”

He continued, “I pray to God that the voice of brotherhood and peace will be louder, and that safety and stability will prevail everywhere.”

The various churches of Egypt celebrate Christmas on the seventh of January, on the eastern calendar, such as the Orthodox Church, the Evangelical sect in Egypt, and the Coptic Catholics in Upper Egypt.
