Al-Azhar Grand Sheikh Ahmed al-Tayyeb left Cairo on Sunday for a tour throughout Europe that will kick off with Italy, where he will take part in a conference on dialogue of civilizations between the east and west.
Tayyeb will also give lectures at universities in Florence and Rome on the message of Islam, to boost dialogue and peaceful coexistence among religions.
The grand sheikh will then head to England to meet Prince Charles, Prime Minister David Cameron, the Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby, as well as members of the House of Commons.
