Bad weather throughout Egypt results in 2 deaths, 43 injuries

Two people died and 43 others were injured countrywide on Tuesday due to poor weather conditions. The bad weather also caused the collapse of three homes and the destruction of hundreds of acres of farmland.

In Minya, a 21-year-old man died after being electrocuted by a lamppost, while six others were injured when their car overturned. Flooding in the Abu Qirqas Township, meanwhile, led to the collapse of three houses in the village of Abu Ginah. Floods also damaged hundreds of acres of farmland in Barsha.

Ehab Hamza, municipal council representative for Abu Qirqas, said that officials had been dispatched to Abu Ginah to evacuate the three homes before they collapsed. He also said that electricity in the village had been cut off following the collapse of three lampposts.

In Daqahlia, bad weather and heavy rainfall caused fires on two farms located in the Manzala and Bulqas townships, reportedly injuring two local residents. Torrential rainfall also caused an ambulance to crash into a lamppost on the Gamaliya Dikirnas Road, resulting in the injury of six people.

Meanwhile, in the southern Sinai Peninsula, heavy rainfall caused a bus to flip over, leading to the injury of 20 people. All of them were taken to the Ras Sidr General Hospital.

In Assiut, one person died and four others were injured after a car overturned near Dirout City due to heavy rainfall. Five others were injured when two taxis collided on the Assiut-Sohag Eastern Agricultural Road. The injured were taken to the Assiut University Hospital.
