Muslim Brotherhood Supreme Guide Mohamed Badie and 13 other group leaders were granted retrial on Monday over charges of instigating the murder of nine opposition protesters outside the organization’s headquarter, the Guidance Bureau, in 2013.
Four others in the same case had their death sentences cancelled after the Court of Cassation annulled the verdicts.
The clashes between supporters of the now-outlawed Muslim Brotherhood and opponents flared late June 2013 amidst the hype of mass protests calling for the ouster of group leader and former President Mohamed Morsi.
