Mohamed Badie, Supreme Guide of the Muslim Brotherhood, has been detained for a further 15 days pending investigations into charges of inciting arson at the Giza governorate building.
Prosecutors decided to halt interrogation of former MP Gamal al-Ashry and former Manpower Minister Khaled al-Azhary related to the same case.
National Security investigators has reported that 13 leading members of the Muslim Brotherhood, including the three defendants, were responsible for the chaos that took place in Giza mid-August. Islamist figures wanted to portray the events as some kind of civil war in an attempt to sway public opinion, they said.
The prosecution accused the defendants of joining a terrorist group, carrying out acts of thuggery, intimidating citizens, as well as inciting the burning down and storming police stations, and the destruction of state property.
Badie, Ashry and Azhary have denied all the charges against them.
