The Muslim Brotherhood's Supreme Guide Mohamed Badie has vowed that president Abdel Fattah al-Sisi will not find ease in his rule of Egypt, one week after the former army chief who ousted Brotherhood leader Mohamed Morsy from presidency was elected president.
“Sisi will not enjoy the privilege of ruling Egypt, coup leaders will see the severest punishment,” Badie said during his trial on Saturday along with other 13 Brotherhood leaderships over charges of murdering nine and the attempted murder of 21 others last July at Giza Square following Morsy’s ouster.
The Brotherhood’s top leader, who stands several other trials, some of which have him sentenced to death, urged Egyptians to “resume the revolution and be resilient towards the current authorities.”
Meanwhile, the Giza Criminal Court postponed the trial to 19 June as witnesses failed to appear in the session. Defense lawyer Mohamed al-Damaty accused police of delinquency in summoning the witnesses.
