‘Bakkar’ animated series returns this Ramadan in 3D

Beloved Egyptian cartoon character Bakkar is back after six years of absence, with a video spread across Facebook announcing his return this Ramadan season in a brand new 3D series.

Screenwriter Amr Samir Atef, the writer of the new show, announced Bakkar’s return to TV following an agreement with Media Production City to present it. It is directed by Sherif Gamal, son of the late director Mona Aboul Nasr who produced previous iterations of the show and created the character.

Bakkar is a famous Egyptian cartoon series that tells tale of Nubian child Bakkar and his pet goat Rashida. The series was broadcast during Ramadan each year since the late 1990s, and was suspended for eight years due to production problems before returning in 2015 – only to be suspended once more.
