Bassem Youssef bids Twitter farewell to Jon Stewart

Egyptian satirist Bassem Youssef bid farewell on Twitter Friday to US comic show presenter Jon Stewart, who is ending his Daily Show after 16 years on screen.

“Happy to be a very small part of the historic final episode of @TheDailyShow Jon you will be missed #JonVoyage”, Youssef tweeted after contributing to Stewart’s last episode along with other well-wishing satirists.

Youssef became Egypt’s most popular comic show presenter during the 2011 uprising that toppled former president Hosni Mubarak.

Youssef, dubbed “the Jon Stewart of Egypt”, has been subject to litigation over charges of insulting Islam, former president Mohamed Morsi and incumbent president Abdel Fattah al-Sisi through his widely-viewed show, al-Bernameg ("the Program"), which was cancelled in June 2014.
