A worker at an oil station near Tukh, Qalyubiya reportedly found a bomb on Friday.
Police arrived to the scene and a bomb squad defused the foreign object.
The incident brought traffic on the countryside road to a standstill.
Egyptian police have been struggling with bomb threats in several parts of the country after the toppling of President Mohamed Morsy in July 2013.
A bomb placed near a public transport bus injured five near Cairo’s Al-Azhar University back in December.
