Sources at the Specialized Medical Council said that media personality Bouthaina Kamel took a medical examination application on Sunday, the deadline for candidates running in the presidential elections, to submit to the High Elections Committee.
Kamel had told the London-based Al-Hayat newspaper that she is running in the elections and that her platform aims to restore women's rights.
She is the first female presidential candidate to run for the post in the country’s history
She added that a group of economists are formulating her economic platform to establish social justice and that jurists are crafting her vision to consolidate human rights in Egypt.
Kamel had also ran in the 2012 elections that brought former President Mohamed Morsy to power.
