British Petroleum Egypt announced the discovery of a natural gas finding in the Salamat oil field east of the Delta.
A statement issued by the company said liquid samples and pressure data have shown the existence of gas and condensates in this area. It added that it will conduct additional studies to better determine the resources of the gas field
The finding is located 75 kilometers north of Damietta. BP has full ownership of the finding.
Hesham Mekkawy, regional director for BP Egypt, said the company is examining options to develop this finding.
