British Embassy in Cairo announces continuation of its services

The British Embassy in Cairo announced on Tuesday that it resume providing services to its visitors, following coordination with the Egyptian authorities.

In a statement on the X platform, the British Embassy in Cairo said that, after coordination with the Egyptian authorities, its travel advice has been updated and assured that its headquarters in Egypt will remain open to the public.

The embassy noted that advice for consular support is available 24/7 to British citizens through calling its numbers. It also urged its citizens to review their travel advice for more information on its official website.

The British Embassy had recently announced the suspension of its operations in Cairo after the government removed security barriers near the embassy.

This follows from recent tensions after British authorities arrested a member of the Egyptian Youth Abroad Union, in what the National Front Party called, “A shocking step that represents a flagrant violation of the most basic principles of justice, an assault on human rights, and a transgression of all rules of diplomatic relations and mutual respect between countries.”

The incident dates back to late August, when the head of the Egyptian Youth Abroad Union, Ahmed Abdel-Qader Mido, announced the continuation of his volunteer initiatives alongside other youth to protect Egyptian embassies abroad.
