A plane belonging to a British airline was forced to make an emergency landing at Hurghada International Airport, in the early hours of Sunday morning, minutes after it took off on its way to Rome, after one of its engines malfunctioned and caught fire.
The plane was carrying 178 passengers, who were promptly evacuated from the plane which was transferred to an isolated area at the airport for the matter to be dealt with through civil protection forces.
Ambulances and firefighting vehicles were sent to Hurghada Airport in anticipation of any developments and the transfer of the security forces.
The situation was dealt with and the limited fire in the aircraft engine was controlled without any injuries.
