The Muslim Brotherhood is not fanatical about implementing its electoral platform, the Renaissance Project, said the group’s disqualified candidate Khairat al-Shater.
At a Federation of Egyptian Industries conference on Wednesday, Shater said developing the industrial sector would be a major part of achieving progress. We should listen to workers in this field, he said, so that we can know their problems and find solutions.
“We [the Brotherhood] are not speaking about a specific vision that we are fanatical about; there should be a preliminary proposal for dialogue at which all academic and practical parties should take part,” Shater said in reference to the electoral platform. "We should acknowledge the experiences of other countries that have achieved economic progress, like Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia and Vietnam, and know the incentives they offered to investors.”
Shater also stressed the necessity of a transparent political administration, made up of a government and a parliamentary speaker working together to advance the country. He also highlighted the importance of judicial independence and improving security through better organizing the country’s police forces.
He also said that economic, not political, institutions were the first to contact the Freedom and Justice Party and submit initiatives for investment in Egypt following the 25 January revolution.
