The Muslim Brotherhood said it would participate in this Friday’s demonstration to be held in Tahrir Square, and suggested calling it the 'Friday of Purging'.
Demonstrators would demand the trial of ousted President Hosni Mubarak and remnants of his former regime, as well as the dismissal of local councils and all governors.
“All the corrupt officials of that regime must be brought to trial,” said group member Mohsen Rady. “The six or seven officials who are currently being investigated are not enough.”
“The revolution belongs to the people,” he added. “Neither the Muslim Brotherhood nor any other political force may claim credit for it.”
Rady said the group did not participate in last Friday’s demonstration because it coincided with Orphans Day. “We preferred to participate that day in events that put a smile on orphans' faces,” he said.
