Brotherhood welcomes Brussels Declaration for Morsy to return

The Muslim Brotherhood has welcomed the Brussels Declaration that was announced by leading Egyptian forces against the ousting of Egypt's first democratically-elected president, Mohamed Morsy on 3 July.

The group seeks to “unite the diverse national forces who believe in the 25 January revolution and fight to end the military coup.”

In a statement on Monday evening, the group said that “the restoration of the democratic process is to respect the will of the Egyptian people that was expressed in fair elections witnessed by the whole world, which means the first elected civilian president must return.”

The statement called on the National Alliance to Support Legitimacy to “continue its national role in cooperation with all free revolutionaries to liberate the country and assert the sovereignty of the people.”
