Business tycoon, who murdered Lebanese pop star, appeals sentence

The cassation prosecution accepted the appeal submitted to it by the defense team of Hisham Talaat Mostafa, a business tycoon sentenced to 15 years imprisonment for ordering the killing of Lebanese pop star Suzanne Tamim, judicial sources have said.

Mostafa’s accomplice, Mohsen al-Sokkary, a former state security officer, was sentenced to life imprisonment.

On 19 December, the court will decide on the appeal.

The prosecution accepted the appeal on the grounds that the previous court issued the sentence without hearing the prosecution or the defense.
