The cabinet on Wednesday amended the law on political parties, allowing all citizens to challenge the formation of parties seeking official approval, a right that was previously only enjoyed by the committee supervising political parties.
The cabinet also discussed the new state budget, which aims to achieve social justice by improving education and health services, maintaining subsidies of strategic commodities and combating unemployment. It also delegated to governors the authority to issue permits for Coptic Christians to build or renovate churches.
Discussions of parliamentary election procedures, meanwhile, were postponed.
