The government stressed that mid-year exams will never be called off as a result of violence between security and students supporting deposed president Mohamed Morsy.
The declaration by Cabinet spokesperson Hany Salah came shortly after Al-Azhar University had announced postponing exams for some divisions as violence escalated Saturday between protesting students and security, with some demonstrators setting fire to faculties and attempting to hinder the tests.
“The government will not allow to the plot to interrupt the exams to succeed, this is the goal behind actions of sabotage inside universities,” Salah told Al-Masry Al-Youm.
Salah revealed that the government has agreed with the Supreme Council of Universities that exams would never be adjourned.
