Cairo International Airport said on Friday it has finished preparations for ‘pilgrimage season’ to the Muslim holy land of Mecca in Saudi Arabia. The first flights for the season begin on August 9.
Majdi Ishaq, chairman of the Cairo Airport Company, held a meeting with all the institutions working in Cairo airport, to finalize the plan of action and performance procedures that will take place at the airport to accommodate the pilgrims.
The plan included the tasks of each subgroup, the special preparations, problems that may arise and how to solve them.
The airport has completed new signs inside and outside the halls as well as on the roads leading to the airport, allocating counters for the elderly and people with special needs. The airport will deploy working groups of public relations teams to help all groups finish travel procedures.
There will be full coordination with all concerned parties to provide additional comfort to pilgrims, along with an operating help center desk open 24 hours to follow the timetables for flights and handle problems that arise and work on immediate solutions.
Ishaq appealed to the airlines to disperse flights over the course of 24 hours to avoid any congestion at the airport.
