Several workers on Monday started painting over slogans and graffiti on the walls surrounding the American University in Cairo downtown campus on Mohamed Mahmoud and other streets.
One of the workers told Al-Masry Al-Youm that the governorate had assigned them to remove the graffiti.
Much of the street art near the campus honors protesters who died during the uprising and subsequent clashes with security forces.
