Cairo Governor Ibrahim Saber has moved to reduce the price of bus tickets for transporting the public to the Cairo International Book Fair to LE10 per trip.
In a statement issued on Saturday, Saber said that a fleet of buses from the Cairo Public Transport Authority will be provided to serve visitors to the 57th Cairo International Book Fair, which will be held at the Egypt International Exhibition Center in New Cairo from January 21 to February 3, 2026.
He noted that the Cairo Public Transport Authority will provide 60 buses, with the possibility of increasing this number, to serve visitors to the book fair.
These will cover most areas of Cairo in addition to the existing routes that pass through the fairgrounds.
The head of the Cairo Public Transport Authority, Essam al-Sheikh, explained that these buses will display a sign reading “Book Fair Service.”
The number of buses will be increased on routes experiencing high demand for the fair to reduce overcrowding on public transportation to the fair, he said, in addition to shortening waiting times.
Sheikh noted that it was agreed to allocate seven special service routes to transport citizens and visitors to the fair using the Authority’s buses from the following areas: Abdel-Moneim Riad Square, Shubra, New Nozha, Amiriya, Giza Square, Saqr Quraish, and al-Mazallat.
