The meeting between Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Hamas Political Bureau Chief Khaled Meshaal, which was scheduled for Tuesday in Cairo, has been postponed for an indefinite period, according to Palestinian sources.
A senior Hamas source said that deposed Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh is meeting in Gaza with Hamas officials to agree on a new date for the meeting in coordination with Egypt.
Fatah last week announced that Abbas and Meshaal were meeting in order to choose the head of the next Palestinian government, after Hamas rejected the nomination of Salam Fayyad.
