Cairo negotiates to transfer Iranian gas to Egypt

Egypt is seeking to convince Iraq to link the gas production fields in Iran to the national Arab gas pipeline that is scheduled to be made between Jordan, Iraq and Egypt to transfer Iranian gas to Egypt either to cover local market needs or be transferred to liquified gas and then exported.

“Negotiations are going between authorities in question. Iran has the biggest stock of natural gas in the world estimated at 33.6 trillion square meter of gas.” Salah Hafez, former vice chief of Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation, said.

“Gas could be imported from Iran. Costs of gas imported via pipeline are less than importing the liquified gas.”
