Civil Aviation Ministry responds to power outage at Cairo Airport

The Civil Aviation Ministry in Egypt announced that a “momentary and limited” power outage occurred at Cairo International Airport on Tuesday evening, without impacting the airport’s buildings, the regularity of operations, or air navigation services.

“The outage occurred in the backup line feeding the Cairo Air Navigation Center. Officials from the electricity company were immediately contacted, and they stated that work is underway to complete the repair,” it said in a statement.

“We would like to confirm that the main line feeding the airport is operating efficiently and stably and has not been affected.”

“The electrical system at Cairo Airport and the Cairo Navigation Services Center is fully secured by dedicated stations equipped with interchangeable power sources, in addition to backup generators, to ensure uninterrupted operation. This has contributed to the normal provision of navigation and air services without any disruption,” it added.

The ministry also confirmed that all operations at Cairo International Airport are proceeding normally and regularly, and that no impact has been observed on flights or passenger services.

The Civil Aviation Ministry commended the preparedness of the operations and emergency teams and the Ministry of Electricity’s rapid response and immediate coordination with relevant authorities to ensure regular operations.
