Civil Service Law protesters object to Sisi’s remarks

Protesters of the Civil Service Law objected to the statement of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi that the law will be enacted.

Representatives of 17 syndicates and parties protesting the law, including the Doctors Syndicate, the Teachers Syndicate, the Planning Ministry and the Central Auditing Organization, met for four hours on Monday at the Real Estate Tax Syndicate and agreed to form a united front to take escalation steps in case they fail to meet with Prime Minister Mehleb or their demands are not met. The name and the executive office of the front will be announced on Thursday.

“Our response will be in the streets,” said Tarek Koeib, head of the Real Estate Tax Syndicate.

“Sisi did not hear our voice,” said Magda Ibrahim of the Public Taxes Syndicate.

Magdy Shaaban of the Customs Syndicate said the best solution is to transfer the Tax Authority into a sovereign body independent from the Finance Ministry.
