A committee of 11 parliamentarians visited the Tora prison hospital on Wednesday to see what preparations are being made to receive ousted President Hosni Mubarak, sources at the prisons department of the Interior Ministry told Al-Masry Al-Youm.
The committee was accompanied by Assistant Interior Minister for Prisons Mohamed Naguib. The committee found that certain construction tasks are ongoing in the prison’s hospital.
“We are prepared to move Mubarak to the hospital once a court order is issued to that effect,” said Naguib.
On 5 February, Interior Minister Mohamed Ibrahim said that Mubarak regime figures, incarcerated together at Tora prison, will be relocated to different buildings. He added that they will not be able to gather together in one place.
Recently, calls to isolate former regime figures, many of whom are detained at Tora, have increased. Some argue that they are conspiring against the revolution.
