Egyptian Minister of Youth and Sports Ashraf Sobhy announced Sunday that the ministry will be looking into the death of Modern Sports Club player Ahmed Refaat.
During a telephone interview with Extra News channel, Sobhy explained: “I directed to form a legal committee that includes judicial advisors, who are the ministry’s advisors, all of whom have high degrees at the advisory and judicial level.”
“I ordered the committee to enter into the entire atmosphere related to anything related to this topic and any similar topic to discuss all the results urgently and quickly,” he said.
Sobhy added that: “The committee will look into the work cycle, such as the club, the Association, the Olympic Committee, the administrative atmosphere, the work of the ministry, even all matters related to players’ agents and the external engagements that have been made, and there will be an organized monitoring of public opinion with every development.”
Refaat passed away in the early hours of Saturday at 31.
The Modern Future and Egyptian national team winger succumbed to illness following heart issues that led to his collapse on the pitch after a league match against Ittihad Alexandria earlier this year.
