The public prosecution has referred a report accusing several activists, public figures, MPs and media professionals of insulting the armed forces to the military prosecution, a judicial source said.
The same source said the report, filed by a citizen named Mohamed Salah Zaghloul, accuses certain public figures of seeking to bring down the state.
Another 732 people signed the report, which also includes pictures and articles attributed to the figures accused in the report.
The report accuses, among others, MPs Zyad Elelaimy and Abul Ezz al-Hariry, presidential hopeful Bothaina Kamel, activists Asmaa Mahfouz, Nawara Negm, Sameh Naguib, Wael Ghonim, Mamdouh Hamza, and media professionals Yosri Fouda and Reem Maged of insulting the military.
Several of those accused in the report have repeatedly criticized the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces’ management of the transitional period.
Yosri Fouda stopped his show Akher Kalam on ONTV for a short period in October due to censorship of the media. In February, Bothaina Kamel was assaulted during an anti-SCAF protest.
