To celebrate Moulid al-Nabi (the birth of Prophet Mohammad), which coincides with the Christmas, Enas Abdel Dayem, head of the Cairo Opera House, announced a big concert featuring the band by Cairo Steps, an Egyptian-German band, led by maestro Sebastian Moller.
Singers Mattias Frey, Wessam Ahmed, Marwa Nagy, Ali al-Helbawy and Cantors Peter Ghetas and Monica Goerge will participate in the concert.
A concert will be held at the Damanhur Opera House on Friday, and another one will be held on Sunday, December 20, at Cairo Opera House.
Cairo Steps founder and Oud player Bassem Darwish said the Cairo Steps band includes famous German and Egyptian musicians, adding that the band would be presenting a combination of Sufi songs and Coptic hymns that have been formulated in a new and innovative musical Jazz style.
Cairo Steps was founded to produce music that combines oriental music and jazz to attract young generations. Ralph Valentiano joined the band in 2013, after which they produced the album "Arabiskan", which has achieved success in many countries.
