Consumer Protection Agency to repair defective Honda vehicles

The Egyptian Consumer Protection Agency (CPA) said Friday it has agreed with the Nile Trading and Engineering Company to carry out maintenance work on certain Honda vehicles in Egypt, following Honda's announcement that these models have a defect in the electrical system of the driver's seat window.

After Honda announced it would be withdrawing certain 2006, 2007 and 2008 models from some non-Egyptian markets, the CPA agreed with Honda's representative in Egypt to fix the defects, said CPA head Atef Yaacoub.

A Honda representative has said that 2162 defective models are currently in Egypt, Yaacoub said. He added that the Honda representative committed to coordinating with the CPA to set a timeline for carrying out the maintenance.

Owners of defective vehicles should contact Honda's customer service center at 19811 to set a date for them to be inspected and repaired. He also stressed that consumers should call the CPA at 19588 if they encounter any problems with the maintenance process.
