Nabil Abdel Malek, president of the Canadian-Egyptian Organization for Human Rights, said he planned to hold a conference in Canada on Friday to offer Coptic human rights organizations a chance to denounce last month's clashes in Omraniya over church construction.
“The conference will discuss frequent collective and individual attacks on Copts in Egypt under false pretenses, or when they wish to build or restore their churches,” Abdel Malek said.
For his part, Medhat Kelada, president of the Coptic Organizations of Europe, said that Austria-based Coptic rights organizations in Austria would call for a peaceful march in Vienna on the occasion of International Human Rights Day on 10 December–in cooperation with the Christian Solidarity International movement–in which they planned to denounce what he described as "frequent attacks" on Copts in Egypt.
