Could war break out between Egypt and Israel? Former Arab League Secretary-General answers

The Former Secretary-General of the Arab League Amr Moussa, responded to a question from TV host Amr Adib, asking, “Could the relationship between Egypt and Israel escalate into war in light of recent developments in the region?”

During a phone-in on the “al-Hikaya” show on Sunday evening, Moussa said that the issue of war is very serious and not “simple,” especially in light of current circumstances.

“Let’s not talk about war at this stage. It’s not appropriate to discuss the war on television. It’s a very big issue. I want to give the countries some space before we discuss it.”

Moussa noted that the focus now should be on how to manage the current political conflict.

He referred to a clear development in international alliances, as facts have proven that no single country can be relied upon to defend Arab countries.

Arab countries, especially Gulf states, are looking for new allies to defend the, he noted, after Israel’s attack on Qatar.

Moussa explained that Israel’s harassment, whether through statements or reports in the American media which allege that Egypt is violating agreements, is part of a political war.
