Court adjourns lawsuit by Amr Diab against Israeli website

An Economic Court on Monday adjourned to January 22nd a lawsuit filed by pop singer Amr Diab against seven websites, including an Israeli one, over broadcasting some of his songs without prior permission.

The lawsuit was filed several years ago, when Diab accused the websites of broadcasting one of his albums called “El Leila Di” without being permissioned, nor authorized.

Guinness World Records listed Diab in September as the top Arab multi-international award winning musician and the best selling Middle Eastern musician since 1989.

Diab has also been awarded the World Music Award for the best-selling Middle Eastern Artist seven times between 1998 and 2014.

His latest album "Ahla w'Ahla" was launched at the beginning of the summer season 2016.

The Virgin Store ran out of copies of the album on the first day in Egypt the Arab world.

The album ranked 19 internationally — a precedent for an Arab artist — and first on iTunes in the Arab world.
