Court orders government to set minimum wages

The Administrative Court ruled the government should implement the court’s previously-issued decision on setting minimum wages for civil servants, according to a query raised by the Center for Economic and Social Rights (CESR).

The court had issued the CESR a verdict in favor of two employees ordering the government to set minimum wages in line with ongoing price hikes. Because the government did not implement the decision, which was issued in March, the CESR raised its query.

“There is a daily increase in prices, however salaries are still as they are. The government didn’t pay attention to these hikes while salaries are moving at a turtle's speed,” the lawsuit argued. “Refraining from setting minimum wages will not guarantee a decent life for employees.”
