The Administrative Judicial Court rejected a lawsuit filed by lawyer Samir Sabry requesting a ban on the broadcast in Egypt of the Al-Manar satellite channel–affiliated with Lebanese resistance group Hezbollah–for allegedly airing programs defaming Egypt and its government.
Sabry had earlier urged the prime minister–along with the ministers of investment and information–to stop the channel from transmitting on Egypt’s Nilesat satellite network for "broadcasting news antithetical to Egypt’s interests and those of certain other Arab countries."
