Court says Zewail City has no right to Nile University land, facilities

The Supreme Administrative Court upheld a ruling in favor of the Nile University in a dispute over the university's land and buildings with Zewail City of Science and Technology.
 
The court rejected Saturday challenges by Zewail City gainst a former ruling in favor of the Nile University. The court said the Nile University has right to all land and facilities that have been allocated for establishing the Zewail City.
 
Former MP Hamdy al-Fakhrany had filed a lawsuit against the higher education minister, the prime minister and the former head of the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces seeking to cancel the transfer of land and facilities to Zewail City.
 
Nile University students had been protesting and staging sit-ins against the public prosecutor’s decision to hand the campus over to Nobel Laureate Ahmed Zewail. The demonstrators claimed that the Nile University administration had paid LE62 million for the right to use the campus for 99 years.
