Egypt’s Ministry of Health and Population on Saturday reported 902 new coronavirus cases, 38 deaths, and 888 recoveries.
A total of 374,411 cases have been reported in Egypt, with 21,315 deaths and 311,637 recoveries.
The Ministry of Health and Population said that the numbers of infections Egypt keep varying, and the peak of the fourth wave has yet to be reached.
Egypt reported on Saturday three positive cases of Omicron variant of coronavirus, among 26 cases infected with COVID-19 that were isolated in isolation hospitals, and all precautionary measures were taken for the contacts.
The Health Ministry said that two of the three Omicron cases do not suffer from any symptoms, and the third case suffers from symptoms of mild infection, and the three cases are subject to isolation and follow-up by the medical team.
It added that all precautionary measures were taken for their contacts, and the monitoring and follow-up efforts did not result in the discovery of any other infection with the variant.
While Egypt’s Supreme Committee for the Management of Coronavirus Crisis lifted some COVID-19 restrictions back in June, there is talk of reinstating some measures.
The government imposed a ban on all unvaccinated employees from entering their workplaces at all government facilities and unvaccinated university students from entering universities as of November 15, as well as banning unvaccinated citizens from entering any government facility as of December 1.
The government also announced that all university students will be required to be vaccinated in order to attend exams at the end of the current academic year’s first semester.
A statement from the Health and Population Ministry earlier in November said that a total of 41,939.792 coronavirus doses have have been administered in Egypt so far.
The total number of those who received the first dose of vaccine amounted to 27,485,140, and 14,454,652 for the second dose.
Egypt has thus far succeeded in providing all types of vaccines against the coronavirus, according to Government reports.
Egypt’s vaccination campaign began in January with priority groups and later expanded to university students.
